There is so much to say about why I love this book again, but I’ll start going into spoilers, so I’ll stop here. Her psychology shows a remorseful, moral and ethical ruler. Within the context of war and along her journey, Theo expresses her concern, guilt and remorse for the rebellion to succeed and for her to regain authority and power of her rightful throne to rule Astrea. She travels to a distant land on Dragonsbane’s pirate ship where she debates whether she should marry to secure an alliance with foreign affairs. The story further develops her complex relationships and love triangle between Prinz Soren, a Kalovaxian, and her childhood friend from her home Astrea, Blaise. She is conflicted between identifying with her mother as a peacekeeper ruler against the Kaiser’s strategic mindset and strong-minded cause as a soverign. Theodosia’s character development becomes more complex as she learns to become the queen of her people that she’s always hoped to be. I was so excited when I received Book 2 to the Ash Princess trilogy! It was another fast-paced read with Sebastian’s sequel to this series. Title: Lady Smoke (Book 2 of Ash Princess Trilogy)
